MAECare is a voluntary organisation set up by local churches in 1995, to improve the quality of life for elderly people in the Moor Allerton, Alwoodley and Shadwell area. It is part of the outreach of our church into the community.

The aim of the organisation is to act as a link between older people’s needs and existing services. It tries to identify where there are gaps in service provision and fill them, largely with the help of volunteers.

MAECare also reaches out to people whose health is failing, either on a temporary or more permanent basis.

MAECare may be able to help with:
·
Information and advice on local services, and signposting to appropriate organisations
·
Advocacy and help with form filling
·
Friendly visiting scheme for people who would benefit from social contact
·
Ways to help with minor DIY, gardening and home security
·
Volunteer car scheme - providing local transport for hospital and doctors visits and other trips
·
Social and special interest groups eg. lunch clubs, theatre outings
·
Healthy living activities eg. walking, Tai Chi and fitness groups
·
Stroke Club
·
Silver Surfers (computers)
·
Winter Warmers scheme

Please contact MAECare if you or anyone you know may benefit from its services, or if you feel you can offer some time as a volunteer.
